DINO O'DELL & the VELOCI-RAPPERS BIOGRAPHY Kevin Dolan (a.k.a. Dino O’Dell) is an award-winning songwriter who has worked professionally in reggae, punk, folk, rock 'n' roll and Dixieland bands. An elementary school teacher-turned-children's rocker, he has led workshops in music, drama, language arts, and improv at schools, theaters, churches, and libraries for more than fifteen years. Dino works as a studio guitarist and children's educator in Kansas City. And for six weeks every winter he is a teaching artist for the Seattle Opera, bringing opera to elementary schools. The integration of education through problem solving, personal expression, and creativity is the focus of his work. His first CD Dino O'Dell & the Veloci-Rappers was a Booklist Critics Choice, and, along with his second CD Itty Bitty Monsters, is a NAPPA "Honors" award winner. Dino was a finalist in the Troubadour Song writing Competition and is a recipient of the Gold World Medal from the New York Festivals Association in Radio Programming
Dino's shows encourage coordination, listening, self-control, language skills, problem solving, creativity, emotional awareness and self-expression. Dino's shows bring to life the musical cultures of Polka, Reggae, Rock 'n' Roll, Ska, Klezmer, Rap, Country and Blues. The best medium for learning is interaction! This interactive musical journey features itty bitty monsters, a space alien, and a swimming pond filled with peanut butter. The children are engaged through singing, dancing, fill-in-the blank lyric writing, finger plays and counting songs. There are also opportunities for students to join the band.
